About The Event

The Proprioceptive Intelligence Series

This course itself will be a 6 week intensive (beginning  16th January 2020), and will consist of weekly 90 minute sessions, covering in depth this second fundamental theme of my propriety approach to body work and healing through yoga.

Cost: £247 (Live & interactive) / £197 (following the recordings)  The price includes 3 x individual 121 sessions, bookable at your convenience. These can be online or in person if you can make it to Hove.

Our proprioceptive nervous system is a sophisticated part of our sensory intelligence, that is not only responsible for know where parts of ourselves are in space in relationship to each other, but it is also capable of mapping out the actual space around us.  The way we move and breathe is always in relationship to how we feel and what is going on around us, but our interpretations and physiological responses to our environment are written by each of our uniquely individual histories - causing some to retract from contact or from space, and others to push defiantly outwards. All of us combine these patterns of responses in different ways to create holding patterns that essentially keep us from experiencing the natural power and ease of a body without such constrictions.

This is where an intelligent approach to Yoga can step in - If we can become directly present to how we are physically relating to space we occupy, we can objectively shift our engagements. The result will be an entirely different experience of our environment, which leads to an entirely different experience of being in our bodies.

- Marc J Acquaviva -

NB.  The Introductory workshops are included in this course, (19th December 2019 & 9th January 2020), so if you book the course , this also gives you a place on the the introductory sessions.  The introductory workshops offer an overview that will be very useful both before and after the in-depth course content so they are an integral part of the course.

Live Course Dates. (Thursdays 6:30pm UK time):

16th January :  1. A higher perspective - your relationship to above through the head neck and throat

23rd January :  2.Letting go of the ground - the space within and the space around you

30th January :  3.The new paradigm - the Heart at the centre of all space

6th February :  4.Learning to fly - The rhythmic pulse of expansion through space

13th February : 5. Learning to float - the sacred Pause - the breath & this moment.

20th February : 6.Letting go through the spine - the release from above that changes everything.

What if book a live place and I can’t make a session?

All sessions will be filmed and you will have access to the unabridged recordings as soon as possible (usually by the end of the next day)  so  if you are unable to make a particular session you will be able to catch up before the next one.... If you are likely to miss  3 or more of the live sessions, it might be better for you to purchase the 'The Recordings' version of the course.

What to expect

Over these 6 sessions, I will  be guiding you as you explore and refine the quality of your physical relationships to space, from key areas of the body and spine.  The work will develop the natural deep-core breathing responses of a  body that is unrestricted in space and free of holding patterns.

Each session will begin with an introduction to the specific theme of the workshop and move into a guided physical practice.  The framework will be a few specific key functional movements and yoga postures (and as a participant you can also bring other things you would like to explore to the table).

There will be moments through the workshop for appropriate Q&A, and you will be given a summary of the day's principle and its application to both your practice and your life, and if there's time we will finish with a guided deep relaxation.

Over this series you can expect your body mapping to improve immensely, and you will discover surprising new connections and relationships, together with subsequent new freedoms in the spine and joints.  By the end of the course, your body will have changed, and you will have at your fingertips a whole new repertoire of 'how to' in approach to body work of any kind, either for your own practice, or for how you work with others.

Sessions are held on the Zoom platform, and if you want to interact and receive direct feedback from Marc, you will need to have a webcam and microphone set up.
