About The Event

The Haptic Intelligence Series

This course runs over 6 weeks,  and consists of weekly 75-90 minute sessions, covering in depth one of the most fundamental themes of Marc J Acquaviva's propriety approach to body work and healing through yoga.

Cost: £147 for the full 6-week course

(live participation):   incl. 1 x half-hr 121 zoom with Marc over the course period.

(participation with recordings only):   incl. 2-3 x half-hr 121 zoom with Marc over the course period as needed.

NB. all half hr zoom 121 sessions need to be claimed and pre-booked before the end of the course, ie. by 13th Nov 2019.

All sessions will be filmed and you will have access to the unabridged recordings as soon as possible (usually the same evening)  so  if you are unable to make a particular session you can catch up in your own time.

The Theme

The baseline understanding behind this work is that the qualitative experience of how our bodies respond, is a perfect reflection of the qualities with which we physically engage with the world about us....  The secondary understanding of this principle is that if we can explore and refine the quality of our engagement with the world, then we have the opportunity to witness the body reflecting the changes we are making.     Essentially this is direct embodiment of the karmic principle -  refining natural  embodied intelligence through our haptic feedback system, and directly witnessing the outcome of our actions.

What to expect

Over these 6 sessions, I will  be guiding you as you explore and refine the quality of a full range of 'kinds' of supportive touch, together with developing the natural deep-core responses of a body that is free of holding patterns.  This is the first principle, or condition, that will allow the body mind and breath to become united and entirely confluent in action.

Each session will begin with an introduction to the specific theme of the workshop and move into a guided physical practice.  The framework will be a few specific key functional movements and yoga postures (and as a participant you can also bring other things you would like to explore to the table). There will be between 15 and 30 minutes at the end of the workshop for Q&A, a summary of the day's principle and its application to both your practice and your life, and finish with a guided deep relaxation.

Over this series you can expect your body mapping to improve immensely, and you will discover surprising new connections and relationships, together with subsequent new freedoms in the spine and joints.  By the end of the course, your body will have changed, and you will have at your fingertips a whole new repertoire of 'how to' in approach to body work of any kind, either for your own practice, or for how you work with others.

Sessions are held on the Zoom platform, and if you want to interact and receive direct feedback from Marc, you will need to have a webcam and microphone set up.

Dates:   6:30pm UK time

  1. 10th October
  2. 17th October
  3. 24th October
  4. 31st October
  5. 7th November
  6. 14th November

Each online workshop will be edited down to build an online resource for others that wish to take part retrospectively.  You will also have life-time access to the edited version.   If you wish to be kept out of the edited recordings, please let Marc know before the course begins.

About the Tutor:

Marc J Acquaviva has been passionate about yoga since his early childhood (since 1968), and from 1991 he studied and practiced exclusively with people that have worked directly with Vanda Scaravelli, such as Diane Long and Sophy Hoare, as well as with the highly respected osteopaths that have been called to further understanding of her work, such as Pete Blackaby and John Stirk.

During his study years, Marc has also explored and drawn from other wellbeing practices, such as Feldenkrais and Qi Gong. After 8 years or so he eventually decided to teach, and qualified in 2000 with Natural Bodies of Brighton, doing Gary Carter's anatomy for yoga course.  He developed his own unique take on the work after suffering from a prolapsed disc during training.

The prolapse meant he wasn't able to walk, but he found that it was possible, through his own innate somatic sense of the body-relationships involved, to relieve the symptoms and restore function... He 'healed' the prolapse for himself within a few weeks, and has been developing and using his unique approach to help others ever since.
