About the Heart Twickenham workshops

Marc has been one of Tuesday McNeill's major influences on the 'Scaravelli-inspired' approach to yoga for the last 15 years or so, and she regularly invites him to come teach at her studio in Twickenham for her students, BWY foundation trainees and friends.

About this series of Workshops - 'Creating the Conditions - yoga for daily life'

Any yoga practice can be enjoyable if you enjoy doing what you're told to do.   However,  good Yoga practice will support an ever-improving quality of life - it should help heal any complications in our movement that we discover, it should improve our  energy levels and offer us  'lighter ways of being', both physically and emotionally.   As Vanda Scaravelli says, "yoga makes you happier and more intelligent".   This is the yoga that I want to share -  and it is based simply on paying attention, not on what we need to do to achieve  the posture,  rather on what we need to attend to if we wish to achieve all the qualities we are looking for.  And we do this in our approach to the posture.    Whether it the posture is reached or not, if we have found better ways of approaching,  becoming curious about arising complications in our movement (and ready to try something different) as we go, perhaps even experiencing a moment of true 'lightness', the Yoga will have done its job.  Because it was a discovered somatic experience rather than a response to 'being taught',  the integrations and freedoms we find can naturally carry forwards into daily life... we will have to become more intelligent  for that to happen!

'Creating the Conditions' is simply short-hand for 'paying attention to everything a person needs for Yoga to arise naturally'.  There are 6 common-sense parts to it, each one could easily be 'the answer' by itself, but understanding them each as an important part of the whole set of conditions that we need, allows our attention in practice to flow through healing cycles as freely as the breath itself.
