Yoga & Teacher Development

the Acquaviva Experience ~ set your mind and body free...

The Acquaviva School of Yoga was founded in 2011 as a teacher training School.  But we have always been primarily concerned  running courses that guide people through an authentic Yoga Development journey.   Over that time, we have refined our offerings to make our Courses suitable for the full range of genuine seekers that have decided to take that journey with us, and we have optimised the learning experience to make it appropriate for every level of commitment.

If you simply wish to discover a new depth of practice that is authentically your own, or if what you are seeking is an embodied path to personal transformation,  or if you are an established Teacher or Teacher-in-the-making that is looking for true personal and professional developmentthen you are in the right place.

Individual workshops & CPD

Our Courses generally run over one weekend per month both at our Brighton and Glasgow venues, but we make one day of each Course weekend available to anyone that would like to drop in for individual sessions (pre-booked and space-permitting). Each workshop will have its own Course-related theme, but the generic title is 'Yoga Solutions', where participants are invited to bring along requests on any issue, so that Marc can show how the principles can be applied directly to practice.

Individual workshop days count as 5 CPD points for both the British Wheel and for Yoga Scotland.

Short immersion Courses

For those that would like to go deeper, it is possible (by application) to join for a Short Course series of full weekends.

The second workshop of each weekend involves close-knit groups of dedicated practitioners & teachers, generally wanting more direct guidance in their personal practice. The groups are smaller so there is more opportunity for personal attention, and the content is structured to build an overview of the principles behind the work, together with developing a more complete picture of the specific functional body-relationships that result from this practice.

Short Courses run as a series of 6 weekends (if you join in January), or a series of 4 weekends (if you join in September).  And if required, we will be happy to provide Certificates of Attendance for your total contact hours spent with us.

Foundation & Teacher Training

Foundation Courses and Teacher Training are only for those that know that they want to fully-immerse in a guided process with us.

A Foundation Course includes attendance on 10 of the Short Course weekends  (ideally in succession over a year).

The Teacher training phase involves a further 12 weekends, plus a one-week Intensive retreat, and some 121 mentoring as needed, as your teaching style and skills are developing.

As part of the program you also get  access to Marc's weekly interactive online classes, filmed resources and Course notes. Previous course workshops have been recorded exclusively for Foundation and Teacher Training participants, and ongoing  specific resources on particular subjects are always being created.

In addition, for the Teacher Training phase, you can request online or in-person 121 support for your home study, your teaching progress, or simply for something that needs resolving in your Yoga or the body from either Abigail or Marc Acquaviva, and Jane O'Haire is also available both online, and in person for those in Scotland.

The only 'homework' for the Foundation stage is to keep a yoga diary, so that you have an ongoing record of your journey, the questions that arise for you, and how things are progressing for you.

The teacher training phase is only available to those that have completed a Foundation training with us, and involves some practical homework designed to take your somatic understanding to a brand new level.

Online Courses

Entering a full-immersion Yoga Course is a big step in your life,  and it is important that you know that you resonate with what is on offer.  So if you haven't worked with Marc, Abigail or Jane  before,  it would be worthwhile trying out one of Marc's pre-recorded 6-week online Courses.

The Yoga for Embodied Living Courses are extremely good value, and you will know by the end of one Course whether this work is for you.

There are also some premium Courses for dedicated Teachers & Practitioners that want to take things to the next level.  The Sensory Intelligence Series of courses offer some of the depth of content that you would be exploring with Marc in person.  These courses require at least 2 years dedicated practice in some form of body work and a reasonable level of understanding about the body in terms of structure and breathing mechanisms.
